How to expect more hope, peace, love & joy this holiday.

To be expectant is to believe, no matter what we may feel, no matter how things may look right now, that there are good things on the horizon: more peace, more hope, more love, more joy.

Practicing gratitude and taking steps that lead to good things in the moment are two of the best ways to increase our capacity to believe positive things are possible. So, this 2024 Advent Calendar includes 31 easy-to-follow prompts that invite us each day to either reflect and be grateful, or take a very simple, very doable, small positive action.

It’s our hope that however you use these prompts, they will remind you throughout this holiday season that the precious things we wish to see in the world are possible, and that the story isn’t over yet.

This Advent Calendar is our gift to you.

We put this calendar together for our own faith community at Winnetka Congregational Church (WCC), a non-denominational, family-friendly, LGBTQ-inclusive church that’s all about bringing people together. We’re a sacred space with progressive values that’s here for our community. And here for you.

Our spiritual vision is broad, our minds are open, and our commitment to the community is non-negotiable. Though not associated with a particular denomination, we’re part of the “mainline Protestant” family of churches (like Presbyterian (PCUSA), UCC, Methodist, and Lutheran (ELCA), and we engage intellectual, spiritual, and social questions with honesty and creativity, striving to make the world a better place.

If you’re looking for a church like WCC, we’d love for you to join us some Sunday morning for worship…in our sanctuary or virtually. Or you might want to check out any of our special Advent and Christmas events.
