Advent Prayer Vigil
December 9, 2020
Our congregation sets aside one day in Advent each year to prayerfully reflect on God’s self-giving in Christ and await the advent (“coming”) of God in Jesus Christ into our lives and world.
This year, that day is Wednesday, December 9. We typically invite people to pray in the Little Chapel that day. This year, we ask members of our WCC family to take a few minutes to pray at home – by yourself or with a loved one. You might even call or Zoom a friend and ask them to pray with you. If you have a candle, or an Advent wreath with candles, you might want to light those.
You could also use this lovely Advent devotional from Society of St. Andrew (SoSA). SoSA brings people together to harvest and share healthy food, reduce food waste, and build caring communities by offering nourishment to hungry neighbors.
The Advent Prayer Vigil reminds us that we are on the Advent journey together, even if we are not able to see each other in person. We are still seeking the blessings of this season: hope, peace, joy, and love – not only for ourselves but for all.
