We continue the story and relevance of Dorothy Day. How does she challenge us today?
How to describe Dorothy Day? Grandmother, anarchist, prophet, journalist, pacifist, saint? The FBI once considered her a threat to national security. Now the Catholic Church is considering her for sainthood. Martin Doblmeier’s film, REVOLUTION OF THE HEART: The Dorothy Day Story profiles one of the most extraordinary and courageous women in American history. She was co-founder (along with Peter Maurin) of the Catholic Worker Movement that began as a newspaper to expose rampant injustices during the Great Depression. Long time Spiritual Enrichment participants have enjoyed discussing other Martin Doblmeier films on Dietrich Bonhoeffer; Howard Thurman; Reinhold Niebuhr; and Abraham Joshua Heschel.
Spiritual Enrichment is WCC’s ministry of faith exploration and formation, uniting head and heart in pursuit of an honest and vibrant Christian faith that is open, relevant, faithful, and transformative. Meeting weekly from September through May both in-person in the Centennial Room and virtually on Zoom; you choose whether to meet in-person or virtually. Questions?
