We begin a Lenten Series based on Barbara Brown Taylor’s thoughtful, engaging, and practical book of spiritual disciplines. This is not your typical reflection of spiritual disciplines, but a creative adaption of some of the practices of faith which make up a well-lived life of faith. We will take on a different practice of faith each week. Her book will be available for $10 if you’d like to read ahead (not required to benefit from participating).
Session 1: Waking Up to God & Paying Attention – Chapter 1 & 2
A spiritual life involves having those times when our awareness is awakened and our perspective is transformed. There is a thin place and time where the spiritual and the physical converge.
We explore this through the ancient Hebrew story of Jacob and his dream of angels ascending and descending on a ladder. What of our own experience? How can our lives be an opportunity to experience a great presence of the divine?
Spiritual Enrichment is WCC’s ministry of faith exploration and formation, uniting head and heart in pursuit of an honest and vibrant Christian faith that is open, relevant, faithful, and transformative. Meeting weekly from September through May both in-person in the Centennial Room and virtually on Zoom; you choose whether to meet in-person or virtually. Questions?
