Spiritual Enrichment – The Lord’s Prayer

March 5 @ 8:30 am - 9:45 am

On each Sunday of Lent, we will take a phrase of the Lord’s Prayer and explore it from a Spiritual perspective. What does it mean – not only in terms of belief, but how it sits in our hearts and spiritus, and how we are to live it every day? The presentations will also include time for introducing a prayer practice for those who would like to find new ways to center themselves in God’s presence and among the people of God.

This week

“Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done on Earth as It Is in Heaven.”

How are we to understand an archaic idea of kings and kingdoms? Is Heaven a place we go to when we die or is it on earth in some ways? If so, where do we see it? What does this prayer suggest about the kingdoms of the world? Is this a personal or political prayer? How do we deal with politics in the Christian life? If our faith involves politics, what are some practices of living this faith that involve politics? Are there lines we need to draw about the church being involved in politics? What are its dangers? Can a Christian be a political leader and be Christian?

Spiritual Enrichment is WCC’s ministry of faith exploration and formation, uniting head and heart in pursuit of an honest and vibrant Christian faith that is open, relevant, faithful, and transformative.  Meeting weekly from September through May both in-person in the Centennial Room and virtually on Zoom; you choose whether to meet in-person or virtually.
