Women’s Advent Gathering

Women of Winnetka Congregational Church and Friends,
In Advent of 2018 and 2019, women from Winnetka Congregational Church gathered for an evening of food and fellowship, along with a special Advent program filled with readings, reflections, music, and candle lighting.
This year, we aren’t able to gather in the same way we have in the past, but we will still gather virtually for a special Women’s Advent Gathering on Monday, December 7 from 7:00-8:00 PM.

You are invited to join us online from wherever you are and to have you with an advent wreath, complete with four candles, or any four candles you have at home. If you are interested in doing a reading or a brief reflection, let Pastor Sarah know.
Like Mary, we are called to be “God-Bearers”—the light of God inside us, waiting to be born. We are called to be expectant—to be anxious and excited knowing that something wonderful is about to happen, and to prepare ourselves and our world for the inbreaking, indwelling of the Divine. Together, we will reflect on what it means to live into this expectant anticipation and preparation of Advent, even and especially in times like these.
The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.” – Luke 1:30-31
