Hustle for the Harbor: Virtual Walk/Run/Bike Challenge

Hustle for the Harbor: Virtual Walk/Run/Bike Challenge

This virtual challenge was inspired by one of the Winnetka Congregational Church Servants who decided she wanted to do something to give back during these strange and extraordinary times.

Sparked by this motivation, a team of middle school and high school youth got together with our Outreach councilors to plan a virtual fundraiser to support The Harbour, a non-profit supported for many years by the church that offers immediate, stable and safe housing and support services to homeless young people and young mothers with children.

A virtual run/walk/bike challenge will be held April 11 – April 24. Participants register and set their goal for how many miles they can cover over the two week period. Registration opens March 19th! The fee is $35 and everyone receives a colorful t-shirt designed by one of the youth on the committee – extra t-shirts for family and friends can be ordered for an additional cost.

Save the Date for a fun-filled, family friendly game night on Saturday, April 24th at 6pm for a virtual closing celebration of the event, and also a chance to learn more about The Harbour.

The youth have set a fundraising goal of $15,000 for Project 2020 a capital campaign to build a new shelter. Through the end of April, each dollar raised will be matched dollar for dollar by an anonymous donor. Together Winnetka Congregational Church family and friends can support our youth and the youth residing at The Harbour.
