JK/K to 8th Grade

During the school year, we offer Children or Youth Connect for students in Junior Kindergarten through 8th grade. Children join their parents for the beginning of worship at 10 am in the sanctuary, except for the first Sunday of every month, which are “Communion Sundays.” On Communion Sundays, students are dropped off in their classroom and returned to their families in the sanctuary to participate in the ritual of Communion together. Following the children’s message, children and teachers are dismissed for Connect Programs. Upon leaving worship, children and teachers move to rooms 101 and 102 on the lower level. Parents are welcome to accompany their children for all or part of Connect Programs, but we also ensure that there are always two adults in each room. Children in JK through 4th grade, as well as in the nursery, need to be picked up in their rooms on the first floor of the Education Wing after worship. Children in 5th through 8th grade are dismissed at 11:00 to meet their families.

The Connect programs introduce children to the church and the Bible through stories and activities. Our JK through 8th grade program uses a curriculum chosen by the Children and Youth committee on a yearly basis. This class is led by our Director of Children Ministries and Director of Youth Ministries.

Bible Sunday

Each Fall, the church presents personalized, age-appropriate bibles to our Kindergarten, 3rd, and Confirmation students. Children are encouraged to take their Bibles home—copies of the same Bibles are available for every student at WCC.
