Open Chapel

Open Chapel

Come and find the quiet center
In the crowded life we lead,
Find the room for hope to enter,
Find the frame where we are freed.
Clear the chaos and the clutter,
Clear our eyes, that we can see
All the things that really matter,
Be at peace and simply be.

– Shirley Erena Murray, 1989

Beginning February 1, the Little Chapel is open to anyone who wants to “come and find the quiet center” Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The main door to the Chapel will be unlocked during this time, and the space will be lit and comfortable, prepared for personal prayer and reflection. You are welcome to come and sit for a few minutes, or as long as you wish.

Pastor Jeffrey will be there at 9:00 a.m. when he can.

As the Visioning Team heard from people over the last year about what they need from the church and how the church can better serve the community, many things kept coming up.

One was the fostering of a deeper spiritual foundation and connection to God. Shirley Erena Murray’s hymn, which we sang just last Sunday, expresses this desire for a more profound grounding in, and awareness of, Spirit in our daily lives.

Help us get the word out to the larger community. There’s no need to be a member of our church or any religious institution. Open Chapel is not about beliefs about God, but experience of God’s presence. It is a sharing of our spiritual resources with those who wish to “clear the chaos and the clutter / clear our eyes, that we may see / all the things that really matter / be at peace and simply be.”
