09 Feb Souper Bowl of Caring: Help Us Tackle Hunger
More than thirty years ago a single church youth group was driven to do something different on Super Bowl Sunday after hearing a simple prayer: “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.” That was 1990. Since then, ordinary young people have generated an extraordinary $163+ million for soup kitchens, food banks and other charities in communities across the country.
This year, our youth are participating in the Souper Bowl of Caring for the third year! We are collecting both monetary and non-perishable food donations for the Common Pantry in Chicago. We began our collection in person on February 7th and we are beyond grateful to everyone who stopped by to drop off a donation and help us get closer to reaching our goals.
We are so close to surpassing last year’s totals and meeting this year’s goals! We are less than $100 dollars and 60 items shy of meeting this year’s goals of $1000 and 600 items!
Can you help us meet our goal?
There is a bin outside the Helms/Parking Lot entrance for you to drop off any food donations between now and 4 PM, Sunday, February 14th. We encourage you to use paper or reusable bags instead of plastic and thank you for helping us be environmentally conscious.
