SPECIAL DELIVERY! WCC Youth Receive Summer Activity Boxes!

While the restrictions of the pandemic have limited the activities we normally enjoy, this summer has turned out to be great deal of fun for our WCC Sunday school kids and their families!  Thanks to the collaborative efforts of our wonderful teachers, Heather and Jeff Smith, along with the ever-creative WCC Church School Coordinator Shelli Brown, and Pastor Sarah, our youngsters have enjoyed attending the Smith’s one-room church school on Zoom, Storytime with Pastor Sarah during the week, and have been inspired by the children’s messages during Sunday morning service. But wait; there’s more!

Shelli and Sarah deliver FUN!

Over the past few weeks, our youngsters— K through 6th grades— have been delighted to receive Faith Unboxed: Play and Pray activity boxes, designed especially for them! Imagine how excited the children were to receive these gifts and to have them delivered personally by Shelli Brown and Pastor Sarah! And, Shelli and Sarah had so much fun making these special deliveries!

“We know this summer has been a very different kind of summer and we wanted to bring some joy to our young ones with a special WCC Summer Activity box”, said Shelli. “We have been working with two of WCC’s favorite church schoolteachers, Jeff and Heather Smith, to create fun yet meaningful activities for families to enjoy during these summer months! Our goal was to offer wonderful projects, which would provide our youth with some special fun, while also connecting them to God and to their WCC family,” she continued.

What’s in ’em?

The activity boxes include eight step-by-step lessons with bible verses, overview, prayers, and lesson plans. There is an activity for each lesson and all the supplies are included. So much time, creativity and energy went into putting these activity boxes together. We thank all the volunteers who helped, including Grace and Owen Brown!

So far, Shelli and Sarah have delivered Faith Unboxed to 42 children at 17 family homes. They still have boxes for children whose families have been out of town this summer, so we won’t give away all of the surprises in store for them. But, for those of you who are curious, here is just a portion of the fabulous activities included:

All Things Come Together For Good

I scream you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Included are everything needed for homemade ice cream; just add cream and vanilla. YUM!

Light of Life

Children will light things up with this lantern making project, which Includes plastic mason jars, paints, and an LED tea light to make it shine. Shelli says, “They’re good for catching fireflies, too!”

Cherishing Family

Brighten a Day! With pre-addressed, stamped envelopes included, the children are encouraged to send special messages to 60 Care & Calling members in our church family!

Better Together

The popcorn is on us, and so is a list of social justice themed movie suggestions for family movie night!

Some added SWAG

The kids are looking pretty snazzy in their WCC sunglasses, while holding their WCC beachballs! And, they’re finding adventure as they search for items on the SCAVENGER HUNT LIST!

Thank you!

WCC is blessed with a warm and giving congregation. We are grateful for the many people who reach out to our member families in so many loving ways, including those who genuinely care about and enrich the lives of our children. Thank you, Heather and Jeff Smith, Shelli Brown, Pastor Sarah, and the many volunteers who nurture our children. You truly live up to what the Lord asks of us:

These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” – Deuteronomy 6:6-7
