ABOUT RUMMAGE
Giving what we have, to do what we can, for people who need it most.
Our Donation Center is located in the building at 630 Lincoln Ave. in Winnetka. The drop off location is at the bottom of the stairs at the east end of the Pine Street parking lot of the Winnetka Community House and is open from 9am-4pm daily. Please no furniture drop offs at this location.
We welcome your gently used clothing as well as your treasures, jewelry, books and household items that make up our around 20 departments we have at our sales. Furniture Donations can be made by sending an email with pictures of what you would like to donate to email below, and we will schedule a pickup ($35 donation for this service).
First held in 1902, the Winnetka Congregational Church Rummage Sale has been running uninterrupted every year since – except for a couple years during world wars and while social distancing was in place during the COVID 19 pandemic. Initiated by a group of determined and inspired women who felt called to give what they had to help care for people outside the walls of the church building, the sale welcomes volunteers and shoppers from both the congregation and the surrounding community.
Through the years, the Rummage Sale has become a Winnetka tradition, raising millions of dollars to benefit numerous social service agencies in the Chicago area, providing prevention, crisis and recovery services to underserved people.

One of the largest rummage sales in the area, with over 25 departments, we’re always looking for donations of new or gently used kids, teen, and adult clothing, contemporary & designer wear, outerwear, shoes, fashion accessories, housewares, furniture, (there is a $35 fee for furniture pickups), rugs, lamps, sporting goods, toys, books and music, pictures, linens, dishes, china and crystal, vintage items, jewelry and more.
Remember if you wouldn’t give it to a member of your family, please don’t leave it at Rummage.
Rummage does not take:
Paint/chemicals/cleaning supplies
Fax machines
Heavy TVs (only lightweight flat panel accepted)
All baby equipment and cribs
Exercise machines
Encyclopedias/textbooks
Office Supplies
Window coverings/blinds
Curtain rods
Track lighting
Torn or stained clothing
Ski equipment
Mattresses
Volunteer
Volunteers are the backbone of WCC Rummage and have been the key to our success as one of the oldest and largest sales in the Midwest for over a century. These volunteers not only work during sale time but also during the year to sort, price and eventually display the items for our sales. Many have been volunteering for over 30-40 years and find the experience to be a worthwhile commitment and the camaraderie to be fulfilling. Additional volunteers are always needed, so we invite you to click on the link below to be added to our list of heroes.

We hold a very large Spring Sale – see the dates and time above, and we also have a smaller Fall Sale with times posted on this website. Not only will you discover some amazing finds here, the net proceeds will benefit so many people who need it most throughout Chicagoland. So everything you buy will be a part of making life a little better for someone else.
